Nutrition students from Andrews University, under the direction of Dr. Winston Craig, did gathered data on the diets of our children on campus as well as children in neighboring communities. Their objective is to determine the nutritional value that children are taking in with their current diet. This group of students stayed with us for one week, not only helping out on our campus, but also assisting in nearby communities to help people learn about subjects regarding health and nutrition. Thank you Andrews University!

Rocky Mountain Conference of SDA Mission Team

The Rocky Mountain Conference organized a mission team; many of them were students and faculty of Campion Academy in Colorado. Several of the large team had been here before. Their main projects were the reconstruction of the Children’s Nutritional Rehabilitation Hospital and a new Multi-Purpose Building. The great effort expended by the members of this team can now be appreciated in the progress made in these two projects.  The team was led by Youth Director, Benjie Maxson, with the support of Nate Marin. We hope that this hardworking team will return soon. Thank you to each one for your hard work!

New patients in the Casita Feliz

Sandra and Elsa, both one year old, were admitted to our Nutritional Rehabilitation Program. The little girls, who are cousins, were brought in by their mothers. They are recovering well and have a good prognosis. Please keep them in your prayers. We appreciate your support so that little girls and boys like them can have the smiles returned to their faces through adequate and nourishing food, accompanied by tender loving care.

Each year this group made up of youth and their families bring great joy and happiness to our children who love their company. The group, led by Dr. Thomas Wieg, has become a very special part of the PAHS family. This youth group from Chico and Oakhurst California came to our campus to improve the lives of our children and lighten the load of our staff. The group completed several projects one of which was a ramp so that wheelchair-bound children, can get in and out of the Children’s Home.

A Special Valentine’s Day Message

valentines-Day2012.jpg

The “Day of Love and Friendship” was commemorated here on our campus with the help of our littlest patients from the Casita Feliz. They allowed us to take them into the plaza to take a special photograph so that we could send our supporters a heartfelt message of love and gratitude! Later in the evening, volunteers Bonnie Gray and Diane Ward handed out special care packages to the older children that live in our Children’s Homes. It was indeed a day filled with the spirit of love and of friendship!

New Promotional Video Production Begins

A former long-term volunteer, Meranda Beerman, had the vision of having a short video made to tell the story of our work in Honduras. With the support of family and friends she raised the necessary funds to have producer, Bryan Fellows, come to our campus and conduct interviews and take video of daily life on campus. We are very grateful and look forward to be able to tell more people about the important work being done here with the children and the families and communities they come from.

New School Year Starting!

The academic year started and the excitement of our children is a beauty to watch. Everyone is excited about school and doing their chores has taken on a new meaning for them, as they realize the importance of appreciating the great privilege that is theirs in having a private Christian education. We are very proud of our children for their efforts in their school work as well as in their chores.

Taking physical and spiritual healing

Brad Alcorn organized a Medical Team made up of physicians and nurses to come deliver care to our area and they chose to start their week of health care services with our campus community. They are working in conjunction with our nurses as well as partnering with the organization Heart for Honduras. We are grateful for the professional care and generous spirit of this team!

Shoes for the Children

We are very grateful for a wonderful donation made possible by Reach Out Orphanages Ministry, directed by Jorge and Tara García. Together with a few friends they fitted each child and teenager with a new pair of black Toms shoes (Shoes for a Better Tomorrow). The children received this gift with happiness, gratitude and marveled at the novelty of them.

Mercy in Motion

It was a joy to have with us once again our friends Paul and Kay Newby, who pastor the Assembly of God Church in Sulphur Springs, Texas. This is the Newby’s third trip to our campus. They organized a small group of friends and family named Mercy in Motion. This group put up lovely curtains in our Casita Feliz, and they also made several maintenance repairs and improvements for greater comfort and ease of care delivery. They put down tile in our Guest House and handed out food in poor communities as well. We are very grateful for the love and support they brought to our campus.

With the purpose of seeking excellence in a new year of studies, seven of our girls boarded the bus to Costa Rica to attend UNADECA in Alajuela, Costa Rica. This is a new experience for Nelly who will study English while at the university. Three other young ladies, Jennifer, Carolina and Beatriz started their studies at the National University of Honduras in San Pedro Sula.
