Our kids from high school and basic education enjoyed being part of a parade last nigh in celebration of Honduras’ independence day, the parade was full of light and fireworks, happy independence day Honduras!!!

Meet Carlitos our newest patient, at 5 years old of age only weight 20 pounds, he was taken to the hospital in San Pedro Sula to be treated from a renal deficiency… please pray for his recovery !!

According to the Ministry of Health of Honduras, 70 percent of Honduran children are born with low weight caused by lack of nutrients absorbed by their mothers during pregnancy.

Fifty years ago today a small caravan lead by Dr. Stephen Youngberg and his wife Verlene, arrived to a small village in northen Honduras, what started that day become a mission that today provide nutrition rehab, education and homes for girls and boy, Today we celebrate with friends and family the 50 anniversary of the arrival of PAHS to Honduras

The traditional marching ceremonies were suspended this Independence Day. So instead our children participated in celebrating the national holiday with a special pageant featuring the native costumes of each of the five Central American countries that on September 15, 1821 received word that Spain had granted their independence.

In spite of the political tug-of-war in Honduras, we are thankful we have food to eat, and that the poor we serve can still access the care we provide in our rural area. There has also been a lot of prayer for the political stability of the country from all different corners of this small country. We are grateful for calm in our area, and that we are able to get our supplies and food from the city without much difficulty. There are more opportunities than ever to make a difference in children’s lives. Honduras in general will need more support in this time of crisis as the world seems to be turning its back on the nation

The president of Honduras, Manuel Zelaya, was removed from his position and sent to Costa Rica. Hours later the National Congress with the Supreme Court addressed the nation informing the people that the president had been removed from power by the Congress and Court. Pray for us as this situation unfolds.
